Week one done!

Okay this week has been a mix of funny amazing moments with the kids and a lot of testing my boundaries. I knew it was coming just hoping it didn’t at least for some time.

The family has been very good at including me in activities especially now when I don’t have any friends around me to hang out with. I like hanging with the family but hope that I soon will meet people that I can talk to. My friends from NYC are all over the place, Georgia, Boston, Seattle the list goes on I miss them but it’s a great opportunity to meet up in each other’s cities.

I’m really looking forward to feeling of really having settled down.

First work days

Pweh! It is hard, in weird way though because its not like i’m doing that much? I mean I play all day long and clean up a bit -it’s not too bad and the kids are great but I still find myself really tired by the end of the day. 

I’ve been working now for two full days from 7:30-18:00 and as I said the kids are really great. I’ve figured out that I really suck at changing diapers, have to work on that- but no matter how many times I turn the boy he just looks at me very patiently like: “hm. That’s not how i’m used to but I guess it’s okay”.

Btw. I’m in Laytonsville, MD so if there’s anyone else out there close to me let me know ;)

Finally Maryland!

Sorry I haven’t posted for a while. Everything went a bit carzy all of a sudden with NYC and comming to MD. This is going to be a sort post becaus i’m so tired but I wanted to let you all know that my hostfamily is amazing and so is the US. On Monday the hard work starts with saying goodbye to the current au pair and then being alone with the kids for the first time. I hope they won’t hate me too much after the other au pair leaves :/ But I think it will be okay

To bring or Not to bring that is the Q!

So tomorrow is the big day. Going to NYC for the first time, being in the US for the first time, traveling totally alone for the first time.. arg! Many first timers for me is going to happen now. I would be lying if I say that I’m not (very) nervous. 

For now packing is the worst; to bring or not to bring? I find myself asking that question to anyone who will listen only to then continue with first putting the item in the suitcase and picking it up again for further revaluation. 

Right now i’m just stressed. It’s so irritating I want to be excited but there’s just too many things worrying me right now. Hm.. I think when i’m sitting in the plan and take off from Denmark the more positive feelings will return because I am looking forward towards this whole experience and hey it’s New York City! ;D

 I’m currently learning the most popular American nursery rhymes for my au pair year. Just sitting in my room …by myself.. singing.. oh well! I don’t mind:”Twinkle twinkle little star how I wonder what you are”:)
